The
Issue

Homelessness carries a hefty price to society of around £60-80K per year in NHS resources, law enforcement and benefits.

People who are homeless for three months create a cost.

  • NHS = £4,298 per person
  • Mental Health Services = £2,099
  • Criminal Justice System = £11,991

It’s estimated that the annual cost to the government for each homeless person is circa £24-£30K per year.

Revolving
Door

Syndrome

In mental health and in other social struggles, revolving door syndrome refers to the tendency of clients to get better for a while, and then end up relapsing.

More and more people are at risk of homelessness every day.

Then there are the hidden homeless.

  • Sofa surfers
  • Living in unsafe or unsuitable accommodation
  • Fleeing domestic violence
  • Living with relatives or friends
  • Experiencing violence and or harassment at their current address
